Care within your community

Behavioral Health

At  Health Options, we are committed to prioritizing mental and emotional wellbeing along with physical health. To support this ethic,  all plans (with the exception of HSA-compatible plans) offer the first in-network outpatient behavioral health visit — in person or online/telephonic — for  Members and dependents at no cost-share. In fact, Health Options will cover a medical visit and a behavioral health visit– inpatient or out-patient — on the same day, to facilitate same-day referrals. We want our Members to easily get help whenever and wherever they need it.

All plans provide benefits for inpatient, outpatient, and day-treatment program services for mental health and substance use disorders when you receive them from an in-network provider. When choosing your providers and treatment facilities, it is best to stay as close to your community as possible, so that your supports are near when you need them. Benefits, cost-sharing, and a care management approach are the same for behavioral health services as for other medical or clinical services.

A provider visit can be just a click away

We strive to remove obstacles that may keep Members from accessing needed healthcare. If your provider offers telehealth appointments,  the visit will have the same plan coverage as in-network or out-of-network provider office visits. Trouble finding a behavioral health provider?  Our Members can schedule an online behavioral health visit through our partnership with Amwell®. For more information, visit your Member portal.

Promoting health and wellness is integral to a whole-person approach to care

While Health Options offers resources to support a wide array of lifestyle opportunities and challenges, we place a high priority on tobacco cessation – supporting unlimited tobacco cessation attempts.  We also offer an enhanced benefit for over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products, including nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, and certain FDA-approved medications listed on our drug formulary.

Treatment for substance use disorders

Our Care Management team works closely with Members and dependents who are seeking treatment for substance use disorder. Our team provides high-quality, cost-effective, and convenient in-network program options. This also includes transitional support after discharge from an inpatient behavioral health or substance use facility.

We understand that Members value services provided within their own communities. We are committed to working closely with your local, in-network providers and their care management teams (nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals) who know how to best access community resources.
