In 2024, Community Health Options continued to expand its presence in Maine, including growth among fully insured and self-insured large group employers, while remaining committed to small businesses, individuals and families through Maine’s health insurance Marketplace.
And as healthcare costs continued to rise, Community Health Options maintained its focus on providing benefits Members can actually use. From access to preventive care to cost-effective treatment options and coordinated care management, the nonprofit's 2024 Annual Report highlights efforts focused on lower costs, better health outcomes and higher productivity for everyone.
Among the highlights, in 2024 the company:

- Developed new ways to foster preventive care and support the management of chronic conditions.
- Launched a partnership with Firefly Health offering Members over the 18 the option of virtual primary care, in part a response to widespread healthcare challenges, including a shortage of primary care providers.
- Saved Members money on routine X-rays and labs by partnering with providers to offer low-cost copays, along with expanding a network of infusion centers to offer lower-cost treatments.
- Explored new partnerships with providers and vendors to help Members live their healthiest lives, including piloting a project with a Maine-based medical practice to ensure Members with diabetes had the resources to manage their blood glucose levels. Additional partnerships focused on reducing the risks of high blood sugar levels for Members with Type 2 diabetes by facilitating necessary blood sugar monitoring, along with giving support to adults with Type 1 diabetes.
